After a year, Lacámara and his family returned to the United States and headed to California. Lacámara instantly fell in love with the Golden State, eventually dedicating himself to preserving the landscape and history of California. Lacámara spent the last decade of his life painting landscapes that would serve to remind future generations of the beauty of California before the inevitable onslaught of civic development. Lacámara also became actively involved in the Calabasas Historical Society and created several works depicting pivotal moments in California’s past. |
